CP Porto, Executive Logistics and Damen Shipyards are the Partners and concessionary holders of the port of Mocimboa da Praia in Cabo Delgado Province.
This exceptionally strategic Port is situated approximately 80km due south from the town of Palma, close to the huge LNG gas development area of Afungi, where both Total and Exxon Mobile will be developing in the near future. The geographical importance of this port as a logistical transit hub to these projects, as well as the interior of the province of Cabo Delgado, can never be underestimated. CP Porto will be committing substantial investment in the refurbishment and uplifting of the port structures, as well as developing offshore bunkering facilities for local and international maritime traffic.
The town and port of Mocimboa da Praia has been secured by the Mozambican Security Forces and the continuing safety and security of personnel, cargo and assets are paramount to the Government and to the Port Consortium Partners. The MDP port will be a critical solution to the complex logistics challenges confronting the LNG project as well as making up a vital supply chain for the hinterland and remote communities throughout the province.
The Consortium Partners will manage Mocimboa da Praia Port with total commitment, in keeping supply lines open and working in liaison with the Mozambican Security Forces and local Government at all times. As the LNG projects regain their momentum and the province starts rebuilding economic activity and stability, we look forward to delivering cargo reliably and safely through continuous focus on overcoming the region’s logistical challenges.
